The feature worked best for me on a Chromecast Ultra whereas on my 3rd Gen Chromecast the video was choppy and not a happy watching experience! I doesn't look like you have any smart speakers form your post.but a new feature Google finally "launched" is the ability to send the audio from a video playing on your TV to the rest of your smart speakers! And depending on the placement/ number of speakers/ types you have you can create a pretty decent "home theatre" setup with surround sound features! I know Google are always updating and they seem to last a long time but is it still worth getting? It's half the price of the Google tv one so we'd probably get two if we choose the 3rd gen. I saw another post saying they felt like Google focused more on the remote in the new one and that they kinda let casting fall behind? What do you guys think? Is the 3rd gen still good? Its basically everything we need but I'm kinda worried that it's from 2018. All we really need is casting and mirroring. The new one with Google tv looks amazing but we don't have any paid subscriptions like Netflix or Disney+ we have a few free apps that play with adds like crunchy roll, Viki, abc ivew, 7plus, ect but we mostly just find the shows we watch on the internet like 123movies and stuff like that so is it worth paying the $100 for the Google tv one when I don't even really have the big apps it's made for? Our tv also is only 1080p so we don't need 4k or anything and we don't game either. Finally decided to get a google Chromecast but not sure which to get.
